Additionally, Bleeping Computer notes that some of the affected sites include news, stores, and adult portals. Researcher Rintaro Koike says this campaign has now expanded to also target those who speak Korean, Spanish, and Japanese. A campaign running since November 2022 is using hacked sites to push fake web browser updates to potential victims. However, that could take a few weeks, so it’s better to manually install the update right now.Compromised websites are causing big headaches for Chrome users. Now, if you have the automatic updates enabled, Chrome will simply install the update on its own. This will just take a few seconds and once completed, the browser will relaunch with the windows that you had opened. To update the browser with the latest update, users can simply click on the three dots in the top-right corner of the browser > Go to Help > go to About Google Chrome > to allow Chrome to look for the new update > and if it is available, click on the “relaunch” option to install the update. Now, the update is available for all Mac, Windows, and Linux users. That makes it even more important for users to update their Chrome browser immediately. ![]() ![]() But the company did say that it is "aware that an exploit for CVE-2022-2856 exists in the wild." Now that means that there are hackers using the bug for nefarious purposes. Google didn’t reveal a lot of details about these critical issues as it restricts bug details until most users have updated their browser. Out of these, one is labeled as critical, six are labeled high-severity, and three are labeled under medium-severity. The company said that the patch includes fixes for 11 security vulnerabilities. ![]()
